Toska Cooper

Projects and Planning Coordinator

Toska Cooper (she/her/hers) is the Projects and Planning Coordinator within the Office of Faculty Affairs. She has over six years of project management experience in research, public health, academia, and supply chain management. Prior to joining the Faculty Affairs team, Toska worked at the National Foundation for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, North Carolina Department of Public Health, and the UNC Injury Prevention Research Center. As a project manager, Toska has managed teams with diverse populations on state, regional, and national levels. In service to her discipline and higher education, Toska holds credentials as a Certified Health Education Specialist where she has facilitated opioid overdose and suicide prevention trainings and fitness classes to community health workers, state agency representatives and faith organizations. She holds a Master of Public Health in Social and Behavioral Sciences from West Virginia University and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology for UNC Greensboro.

Toska is passionate about service. She is a past AmeriCorps VISTA member and current Lieutenant Junior Grade (LTJG) in the US Public Health Service (USPHS) Reserve Commissioned Corps. As a uniformed service member, LTJG Cooper is a recipient of the USPHS Coronavirus Disease 2019 Pandemic Campaign Medal and USPHS Presidential Unit Citation for her response to COVID-19 and Operation Allies Welcome. Toska is committed to excellence through creating opportunities for all identities and encourages everyone to become the best versions of themselves. She believes that implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion is a collective responsibility for everyone to uphold so that our world can be a better place for all people.
