The Office of the Provost is pleased to share that the university has engaged with Interfolio, a leading academic faculty management software and higher education technology firm, to help improve the faculty review process. The university is implementing Interfolio’s Reappointment, Promotion, and Tenure (RPT) module to facilitate the University’s Appointments, Promotion, and Tenure (APT) process (please note that Interfolio refers to the module that facilitates our APT process as RPT in their documentation). The goal is to start campus-wide use of the RPT module at the start of the Spring 2025 semester. By the start of the academic year 2025-26, UNC anticipates that all tenure-track and tenured faculty dossiers for appointment, reappointment, promotion, and tenure will be submitted for review using Interfolio.

The university is still in the preliminary stages of implementation. Currently, UNC is working with Interfolio to integrate its policies and processes with its application to provide the best initial experience for campus. In the coming weeks and months, the Office of the Provost will send regular communications about the application, the transition, training opportunities, and resources to support our campus community’s use of the new application. In the meantime, you can learn more about Interfolio and monitor the progress of our implementation by visiting this Interfolio resource page.

UNC is continually striving to improve the support that is provided to faculty, and the university believes that this application could have powerful implications for improving the dossier submission process for all involved.

Please feel free to send questions or feedback to interfolio@unc.edu
